A teenager from Godmanchester has been nominated for the Cambridgeshire Young People of the Year awards or ‘YOPEYs’ after spending her spare time raising money for two separate charities.

Fourteen-year-old Katherine Green, of Kisby Avenue, decided to firstly raise money for the charity Pseudomyxoma Survivor after her grandad was diagnosed with cancer of the appendix (PMP).

A football-crazy teenager who is a positive role model for others and has raised money for charity is in a competition that hails the ‘giving to others’ of Cambridgeshire’s younger generation.



Harry Stevens, from March, devotes his spare time to helping younger pupils participate in sport by refereeing school games and last month cycled over 150 miles for charity.

Air cadet Alexander MacRae, from Chatteris, has led his March squadron to winning cadet competitions and regularly volunteers to help out at local events.

Two young friends lead others in bridging generation gap

Teenager Corben Russell was dismayed when he saw some youngsters goading a pensioner and read that kids in Ramsey were not behaving.

So he set about to put things straight and now leads a project with friend Tiffany Baldwin in which youngsters volunteer their time to entertain and work with the pensioners.
